Mia writes a musical about what it's like to have a family with two different cultures for a school project and performs it for Elmo. The first song is about how her dad's family is Jewish and her Papi's family is Cuban. Mia celebrates holidays like Rosh Hashanah and New Year's Eve and has lullabies sung to her in two different languages. For the finale, she shares how her two cultures come together, like having Shabbat dinners with Cuban food and eating twelve grapes on New Year's Eve. Families can be made of different cultures and there's so much to share!

The Flamingo Scoop

Fred the Flamingo is visiting Sesame Street for a family reunion and meets Nina, Elmo, and Rudy. Rudy notices that Fred is frowning. Fred explains that it may appear his smile is upside down but it's just because of the way his bill is shaped to help him eat. He also shares that flamingo nests are made of mud. Elmo and Rudy think it would be fun to be a baby flamingo and play in the mud all day. Then Bert comes by to share that flamingos' feathers change color as they get older from white, to gray, then to brown, and to pink. Elmo, Nina, and Rudy wonder how Bert knows so much about flamingos and it's because flamingos and pigeons are distant cousins! They're happy to have met Fred and learn so much about flamingos.

Tamir's Water Works

Tamir is leaving for robotics camp and needs to find a way to keep the garden watered while he's away. First, Slimey tries pouring a bucket of water from a helicopter, but he can only pour a little at a time. Then, Tamir comes up with the idea of putting watering cans on a clothesline but can't think of a way to fill them back up with water. A porcupine walks by and accidentally sits on a water bottle. That gives Tamir the idea to make a sprinkler with a bottle, hose, and some tape. But the sprinkler can't be moved around! Just then, Tamir gets another idea and asks the porcupine to sit on an old hose to poke holes and places the hose through the planters to make a drip irrigation system. It works! Tamir didn't give up and now the flowers, fruits, and veggies in the community garden can have plenty of sunlight, soil, and water.

It's Friday evening and Charlie's family is preparing for a Shabbat dinner. When they find out there's a water leak in the apartment, they decide to have their dinner in the arbor and share their special meal with their friends. Meredith and Big Bird help set up the table while Charlie and Victor show Alan, Elmo, and Tamir how to make challah bread, a traditional Jewish bread they eat as part of their Shabbat dinner. It's now sundown and the table is set with beef and potato stew, green beans, candles, a kiddish cup, and challah bread. Once everyone gathers at the table, Meredith lights the candles and says a blessing in Hebrew to welcome Shabbat. Victor then says a blessing to the children and together they say a blessing over the grape juice and challah bread. After everyone enjoys the meal, Charlie's friends thank her for including them. Charlie is happy to share her family's special meal with her friends.

Shabbat Shalom!
