Tamir Learns Tagalog

TJ is excited to meet his favorite comic book artist Bobby Manalo and wants to do something kind for him. Mr. Manalo's family is Filipino just like TJ's. Both of their families come from the Philippines and Filipino families like TJ's give gifts to make someone feel welcome. TJ wishes he could draw comic books; he'd make one for Mr. Manalo. Tamir offers to help TJ draw the comic book and TJ comes up with the story. While working on the comic book together, Tamir also learns to say a few words in Tagalog like hello and thank you, to say something to Bobby Manalo to make him feel welcome too. It's time for the comic book signing. Tamir feels nervous that he might forget how to say the words, but Chris explains that it's okay if he forgets. The important thing is that he's trying his best and learning to speak someone else's language is a really great way to show you care. TJ and Tamir finally meet Bobby Manalo and give their comic book gift to make him feel welcome.

Tamir's Water Works

Tamir is leaving for robotics camp and needs to find a way to keep the garden watered while he's away. First, Slimey tries pouring a bucket of water from a helicopter, but he can only pour a little at a time. Then, Tamir comes up with the idea of putting watering cans on a clothesline but can't think of a way to fill them back up with water. A porcupine walks by and accidentally sits on a water bottle. That gives Tamir the idea to make a sprinkler with a bottle, hose, and some tape. But the sprinkler can't be moved around! Just then, Tamir gets another idea and asks the porcupine to sit on an old hose to poke holes and places the hose through the planters to make a drip irrigation system. It works! Tamir didn't give up and now the flowers, fruits, and veggies in the community garden can have plenty of sunlight, soil, and water.

The Mystery Cricket

Nina and her brother, Dave, are playing music with the Best Friend Band today. But they can't start because Dave lost his favorite musical instrument from Cuba! Elmo, Abby, and Tamir help look, and they come across something new, a wooden cricket. They try to figure out what it's for when Dave spots the wooden cricket and tells them they found his instrument. This wooden cricket guiro is special to Dave because his uncle gave it to him when he was a little kid in Cuba and taught him how to play. Elmo, Abby, and Tamir learn that the wooden cricket is a guiro, a percussion instrument that you play by scraping a stick on the ridges. They are fascinated to have found something new and learn all about it. Now that Dave's instrument has been found, the Best Friend Band is ready to play music!
